Scope:

The Project Manager oversees the full lifecycle of fabrication and manufacturing projects, from estimation to delivery. Leading cross-functional teams, managing client communication, and ensuring outcomes align with scope, budget, and quality expectations.

 

Objective:

As the Project Manager, you will lead fabrication and manufacturing projects from estimation through final delivery. This includes coordinating internal teams, managing client communication, overseeing budgets and schedules, and ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards. The role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented leader who can manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong relationships with both clients and shop-floor teams. You will play a key role in supporting business growth through strong execution, continuous improvement, and a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

 

Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Estimation

  • Develop detailed project plans from initial concept through completion, including scope, timelines, materials, and resources.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies during the planning phase.

Client Relationship Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, ensuring open communication and trust.
  • Manage client expectations and proactively address any concerns or changes to scope or schedule.

Execution and Coordination

  • Coordinate with shop floor supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors to ensures seamless execution of project tasks.
  • Monitor progress and adjust schedules or resources as needed to stay on track.
  • Ensure project milestones are met, and deliverables are completed according to quality standards.

Budget and Cost Control

  • Manage project budgets and ensure financial performance aligns with estimates.
  • Track expenditure, control costs, and report on project financials to senior management.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Ensure all work meets industry, client, and internal quality standards.
  • Monitor adherence to safety protocols, industry codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct site or shop visits to validate workmanship and quality.

Problem Solving and Issue Resolution

  • Anticipate project challenges and implement proactive solutions.
  • Maintain a calm, solutions-focused approach in high-pressure situations.
  • Reporting and communication
  • Provide regular project updates to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Document project progress, changes, and final close-out reports.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date records.

 

Requirements:

  • 10-15 years of experience in the steel, welding, or fabrication industry, ideally in project management or supervisory role.
  • Proven ability to manage projects from estimation through completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and team coordination.
  • Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD, and the ability to read technical drawings and fabrication documents.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and build lasting client relationships.
  • Experience in sectors such as mining, utilities, or commercial construction is an asset.
