General Manager

 

Location: Sherwood Golf & Country Club

 

Report to: Board of Directors

 

Scope:

Sherwood Forest Golf & Country Club is a cherished community set across 320 scenic acres. Celebrating its 50th year, the property includes a 9-hole golf course, an aquatic center, campground which includes seasonal and permanent sites, and community event spaces. The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership of operations, people, and planning, ensuring the Club continues to thrive as a valued gathering place for members, residents, and guests.

  

Objective:

To provide strategic, steady leadership that ensures smooth day-to-day operations while helping shape the long-term vision of Sherwood Forest Golf & Country Club. The General Manager will uphold the club’s values of community, recreation, and connection, delivering exceptional service, financial accountability, and thoughtful planning in partnership with the Board.


Responsibilities:

Operations Management

  • Oversee all resort operations, including the golf course, aquatic center, overnight and seasonal camping, and permanent sites.
  • Ensure smooth daily function of guest services, maintenance, housekeeping, and landscaping.
  • Maintain safety standards and ensure compliance across all facilities.
  • Oversee guest services, bookings, and internal communications.

Staff Leadership

  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise full-time and seasonal staff.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and guest-focused workplace.
  • Lead operational check-ins and coordinate cross-functional communication.

Financial Oversight

  • Develop and manage annual budgets, financial reporting, and forecasting.
  • Monitor revenue streams and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Approve purchases, capital investments, and payroll.

Guest Relations and Community Engagement

  • Act as a key point of contact for members, residents, and guests.
  • Ensure high standards of customer service and resolve escalated guest concerns.
  • Build relationships with seasonal residents and RV guests.
  • Plan or support resort events and community programming.

 Site Management

  • Manage site lease agreements, renewals, and compliance.
  • Oversee booking systems for overnight and seasonal sites.
  • Coordinate with contractors for repairs, upgrades, and landscaping.

Board and Strategic Support

  • Communicate regularly with the Board; attend monthly meetings and provide operational reports.
  • Support long-term planning, infrastructure upgrades, and strategic initiatives.

 

Requirements:

  • 5+ years in a senior operational or general management role, preferably in hospitality, golf, recreation, or member-based environments.
  • Proven leadership experience managing diverse teams and multi-service operations.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with or reporting to a Board of Directors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a community-first mindset.
  • Knowledge of RV parks, golf operations, or recreation-based properties is an asset.
