Advisory Services Manager

Saskatchewan Construction Safety Association (SCSA)

Location: Saskatoon / Regina

Reports to: Operations Manager

 

Objective and Scope

This position is responsible for providing overall leadership and coordinating the activities of the Advisory Services business unit. The primary focus is leading, coaching and developing a team of safety professionals while setting clear priorities and expectations, strengthening accountability and collaboration, and providing direction through ongoing change. The role also supports the promotion of safety education, programs and services while ensuring quality service to SCSA members and other stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and connect with advisory team across Regina and Saskatoon, supporting consistent practices, shared priorities, strong communication and effective collaboration across both locations.
  • Set clear team objectives, priorities and individual expectations; strengthen accountability; and support team development and collaboration.
  • Lead employees through ongoing change by building understanding and commitment, adapting the approach when needed
  • Support the Senior Advisor in strengthening team leadership, including advisor training and assessment of on-site performance and work tasks.
  • Lead the full employee lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, professional development and workflow oversight, while fostering a collaborative and effective team.
  • Manage employee time reporting, leave and overtime requests, and review required reports including expense reports.
  • Prepare annual unit budget for review and approval; monitor and report on approved unit budget ensuring compliance; and manage contracts related to unit operations.
  • Consistently implement corporate administrative policies, procedures, and practices and ensure the effectiveness of business unit procedures and practices.
  • Analyze, coordinate and document business unit processes and problems, and develop solutions to enhance efficiencies; coordinate and implement solutions to improve customer/member service, reduce costs, and improve work efficiency.
  • Use data and operational information to track progress, identify issues and trends, evaluate results, and recommend what should continue or change.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Leadership team to plan and execute corporate strategies; plan, communicate and evaluate business unit goals in conjunction with corporate strategies.
  • Provide meaningful reporting on business unit operations including progress towards corporate objectives.
  • Analyze and coordinate unit activities and special projects to ensure quality service pertaining to auditing, promoting safety education and marketing and delivery of programs and services.
  • Regular overnight travel within the province and navigation of construction sites (indoors and outdoors).
  • Represent the Association on stakeholder committees and at various functions.

Experience and Education

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Management, or related areas.
  • Five years of experience in a management position with a primary focus in people leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and leading multi-site teams, including employee development, performance management and team development.
  • Experience in customer service, relationship-based sales or service promotion.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the construction industry and health and safety management systems; technical expertise is not required.
  • A professional management or human resources designation, such as C.Mgr. or CPHR.
  • Basic knowledge of the construction industry, health and safety management systems, procedures and safety impacts, with the judgment to recognize when technical expertise is required.
  • Understanding of occupational health and safety legislation, and Workers’ Compensation Board policy.
  • Proof of a valid driver’s license and provision of a criminal record check required upon offer of employment.
